Amazonian natural pigments and traditional painting

During my long-term residency in the Andean Amazon of South America: Peru, my home country, I decided to start a research journey with natural pigments and traditional ancestral painting techniques. I encountered how native communities dye their fabrics with tree barks, plants, fruits, seeds and give color to their traditional arts and crafts.

The ancestral and traditional techniques used by native local communities involve ancestral knowledge of years of traditions within practices with the way the pigments are obtained and the process of dying the fabric. There is a strong connection between the materials, the process and the representation of the Amazonian vision of the world and the connection with nature sorrounding them.
