Final major project in college, exploring the theme of urbanisation and how the human footprint has impacted our everyday landscape. Capturing snippets of Brighton and Hove, I was inspired by the high-contrast black and white photography of Lewis Baltz and the work of photographers who focus on the unpleasant and mundane objects and scenes we often choose to overlook.
Pairing photo with text, I had fun experimenting with printing, scanning and photocopying imagery and then taking it back into photoshop to create the page layouts. I also experimented stylizing some of the photographs I had taken in post production. This included a faux-VHS action I created to make the photos more distressed and graphic, as well as the inclusion of many paint splatters and textures I painted and scanned to overlay on a variety of pages in the book.
