The SenseAura - Designing for people with PMLD

People with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) use their senses to discover the world around them. The SenseAura is a product designed to help people to immerse themselves in different sounds as well as create a connection between the carer and the sensory being through sharing an experience.

This device is designed to enhance sounds, the object on the end will make a noise and then the sounds will reverberate up the tube and into the ear of the the user.
The attachment shown in the image is of a flexible ball with a piece of space blanket inside it. As you squeeze and play with the ball in your hand the space blanket crinkles which reverberates up the tube and into your ear.

The SenseAura can be used by one person if they have the mobility to do so, or by a sensory being and their carer. Depending on how disabled the user is, the carer could hold both ends of the product or they and the sensory being could hold one each.
The sound clip above is of the SenseAura in use.
