Message communication module, Year 1

Communicating an Ethical Message.
1st Year Module~ University of Plymouth
During this module, the aim was to create a promotional printed piece that communicated an ethical message. We were put into group of 5 in order to experience working with people who have a variety of skills. In doing this, we were able to see the different ways courses are run and get advise from tutors with expertise in different areas.
As a group, we wanted to create a piece that would stand out as being very contemporary and therefore be appropriate for our target audience of students at the university. We decided to focus not the concept of Planned Obsolesce, which is where a digital product is designed to only last a certain amount of time in order to increase sales on newer, more updated versions of the same item. We took a particular interest in Apple iPhones due to he lawsuit that had just been release, and decided to create a campaign against how they create and manufacture their phones.
We achieved this by creating an information pack in the same format as the iPhone box to grab peoples attention, and then use infographics, short illustrated stories and promotional materials to communicate this idea within. The concept played on the branding of the "i" within apples products, changing it to "iThink" rather than "iPhone" or iMac".
