Royal Shakespeare Company: Romeo and Juliet Poster Print Designs
Royal Shakespeare presents Romeo and Juliet Poster Print Designs. Each poster design represents a chosen movie genre that would communicate the story Romeo and Juliet effectively. Romeo and Juliet is a story written by William Shakespeare that begins with romance and ended with a tragedy. In this case, the objective is figuring out what movie genre, location, and compositional design that could be relevant to the storyline.
Each poster design represents Horror, Science Fiction, and Romantic Comedy. Also, the characteristics of the poster designs can connect with death, action, and laughter. The idea of the dramatic play have the possiblity to locate in Richmond Virginia.

Horror Poster created based on Romeo and Juliet’s tragedy, which ended in death for both teenagers. In order to connect with that scene, I designed a zombie-like image, red color tones, and Horror-like typeface known as Nightmare Alley.

Science Fiction created based on an adventure of Romeo and Juliet that had to fight to keep their love alive. In connection, Science Fiction can include robots, space, or nature. For this idea, I chose a robotic theme that shows a female with red eyes, cracked outer layer, and futuristic typefaces.

Romantic Comedy is an interesting perspective for a storyline that deals with sadness and misery. With this intention, I chose to design this poster design to be on the positive side with a “girly-girl” feel. Romantic Comedy movie posters are simple but bold. For this reason, it was a design chose to create a simple heart design to balance the composition with a splash-like design in the background.
