I chose the word rural because I grew up in the middle of nowhere. There was a lot of nature and a lot of agriculture and moving to Columbus made me miss that. It has made me realize how important those things are and I hope to inspire people to pay more attention to nature through my illustrations.
I created these patterns with a more muted color palette. This is the first time I have used a color palette like this and I really like the result. It feels more adult than most of the other watercolors I do and I plan to do more like this. The above pattern is spaced farther apart and the below pattern is spaced further together. I enjoy messing around with patterns.
My word illustration is placed on my pattern. I feel that this image reveals the progress I have made in my art in the few short weeks of this spring semester.
