In this project we were asked to research and choose an object from the UAE culture, create a brand for it, and package it. 

When you look at the UAE, you see skyscrapers, and city-sized malls, palm shaped islands, and so much more. But this project was about culture, and to have a closer look at the UAE's culture, i had to go back in time. 

In the old times, people used to look for occupations in things that they're good at, and one of those occupations was weaving date palm tree fronds.  

Sa'af is an arts and crafts project in which you weave date palm tree fronds together to form the product stated on the package. 

Sa'af is a cultural and fun project, that tells us the story of the date palm tree and the UAE. The date palm tree is the symbol of sustainability, without it, life wouldnt have been possible in this region. However, it wasnt just treasured for its fruit, it also provided shelter and shade for the people that lived there. 

The fronds of the tree were used to make fans, food trays, baskets, mats, as well as houses and boats.

This product is to inspire the youth, and show them the importance of the date palm tree to the UAE, in a fun and creative way.
