Skin Atlas

A cartography of the human skin – the protection coat of the body, our first and final home

2014

Photography Book, 27,4 × 34,1 cm, 174 pages, linen hardcover
Finding oneself is a perpetual journey. So is finding one’s partner and finding one’s home.
Regardless of where it takes you, whomever you encounter, whatever you lose – eventually you are all by yourself. So end the quest, it stops right here. There is no such thing as home. Everything is ephemeral. You are ephemeral. Don’t live for something like a house or a piece of land. Don’t forget about the vehicle you are. You are responsible for yourself, no one else is.
Your body is your spaceship, your caravan, your shell, your host, home of your conscience, your everything. Wreck it and you wreck yourself.

Look at your skin, your protective layer. It’s the junction to the external world, indicator of the inward. Your skin binds what keeps you alive. Look at your skin and recognise your only home.
