FX Brief. A visual character study : The Morrigan.

This video is a visual character study of The Morrigan, one of the main characters from my Final Year Project. The character study is a piece to try and capture the aesthetic and tone of the The Morrigan that will inform her character development. With her origins based in Irish mythology around the first century a lot of my visuals are based on nature and woodland. To my mind The Morrigan is as old as the earth and my storyline involves her rebirth and many lifetimes since the first century. I used nature as a starting point as it's something I think is regenerative, just like the character.
These following pictures are all of experiments I did to get footage for the piece. These experiments included working with ink, fake blood and black feathers. The Morrigan is a known to have been a shape shifter who could transform into a crow, she was also a Goddess of War, which is where the fake blood ties in.
More experiments of sparklers taken with slow exposure settings. While this footage wasn't used in my final piece it was a fun experiment!
The following images are all pieces that were used in my project. I worked a lot with double exposure. Using images I had taken of tree silhouettes and light spills layered on top of images of a model.
