'The Outsiders' by S.E. Hinton is a book so often forced upon teenagers for the sake of the school curriculum. This was the case for me in Year 8, but instead of disliking the book, I grew obsessed with it, and to this day it is still one of my favourite books.

So when the opportunity came up in my graphic design class to redesign a book cover I naturally chose 'The Outsiders'. It was a lot of fun to experiment with. I picked up a lot of the elements of the storyline, which I know pretty well, and put them on the cover. I wanted to make it distinct and about as far from minimalistic as possible. I also created a slip cover for the book out of an old paid of denim shorts. Practically every character in the book wears denim, so it seemed appropriate.
