The purpose of this project is to create an abstract representation of either an animal or a plant. The tools we will be using is contoured lines and then finding textures that symbolize the animal or plant.

What I originally wanted to design was a type of fruit called Dragon Fruit. There was a connection between Dragon fruit and my grandma because when I was younger she would feed it to me all the time and I wasn't of fan of the taste but it was such a fascinating fruit to look at with the colors on the outside and the crazy looking inside.

After working on creating Dragon Fruit with contoured lines for a while. I came to the conclusion that there had to be a change in what my object was.

Then I remembered when I was young I always went to visit my aunt and uncle in florida. My aunt Lauren would take me to Sea World on Mondays when there was barely any people there and I would be so excited to see the Octopus tank. I was a little scared of them but they were such beautiful creatures to watch.

For this project I want to represent octopus as a mysterious, diverse and bold creature.

After creating many sketches I used adobe illustrator to come up with the final contour line designs of the octopus. I felt that the design on the far right represented the octopus and would be best as a logo.

Even though the logo doesn't have eight tentacles the viewer can see it as an octopus.

Here are the final two textures I wanted to work with. I created both of these textures in photoshop and the one that stuck out to me the most was the circling vortex image. The image had more of a mysterious and bold vibe and the color choice was simply because with the lighter green it shows peace and then as the green gets darker its ominous. However the final texture I used on the mockups is the same image as the vortex but I used a gradient on top and used color burn that created the image below.

The project overall was a lot of fun to create! What I learned from this project was how to use mockup files on photoshop and learning more about the use of contour lines. If you want to see more of my work click this link here .
