Brief challenge
The aim of this project was to use typography to express a chosen fear or phobia.  I decided to be brave and choose my own personal fear and phobia which is clowns.  I researched into the split personalities of clowns.  Some clowns appear to be happy, colourful and friendly but on the other hand some can be horrifying, mental and scary.  My final outcome communicates with the audience to inform them that clowns do have split personalities and none knows who they are and what they're hiding.
Development of a favourite design.  For my formative, I presented the design on the top left.  From the feedback I received, I was able to go on and develop this idea further in order to achieve my goal of showing off the split personality of a clown.
Development of a favourite design.  From the feedback I received from my formative critique, quite a few people thought that the design on the top left would be more effective than the design I had presented.  From then I went to develop this idea which lead to to different possibilities and then to the final outcome.

Here you will see my influences for this project and also major design point throughout the project which the lead to the final outcome.
Looking back at my developing idea pages, you can see where I took a design from each page and then combined them to create this final outcome.  The colourful friendly approach of the polka dots express the happy/friendly side of a clown where the edgy/rough typeface expresses the opposite side of a clown.
I really enjoyed doing this project, even though it was based on a personal fear of mine, I still believe that I have learnt some valuable lessons on typography and the way that it's presented and used.
