The Mic: An Event for Furtado's Music Company

The Mic
An Event by Furtado's, Pune
The Mood board: I chose the name The Mic because it makes sure that one's voice reaches the crowd.
For the logo, I took inspiration from the form of a performer's mic.

I developed the logotype inspired by the form of the mic, particularly the round edges and the slits. The grid (left) was developed to create the logotype.
I designed the logo with precision regarding the spacing to make it look visually balanced and appealing.
In order to make the logo interesting for the youth particularly, music lovers, I chose to give options of color variations in the logo. The colors were chosen form the existing color palette of Furtado's to maintain a sync.
In order to bring in the presence of the event in the stores for their existing audiences, I thought of the concept of a Notes Board. This board would be a 6 ft X 2 ft installation of frosted glass, placed in the area where the collection will be displayed in the store.
A marker would be provided for people to write their comments and suggestions on the board.
The board provides a medium for the audience to interact. It is also a way through which Furtado's can monitor the reaction and the response of their audience.
It is very important for Furtado's to inform their existing audience about the event to ensure their participation. Furtado's can use its database to pass on this newsletter. The newsletter is designed to be announce the details of the event to let them know what is it all about. Contact information is provided at the bottom to induce a reaction from them.
I kept in mind the hierarchy of information, the content and the tone of voice particularly, while designing the newsletter.
This poster is meant to be displayed at places like colleges, music schools, cafes and restaurants. In order to grab the attention of the young crowd and form a connection, i have used lyrics of a popular song in the poster. The poster introduces the event and also gives out details about the event to encourage participation.
The event needs a website in order to build an excitement about the event and also to update the people with its progress. It also provides a platform where the company and the audience can interact directly.
The home page (above) will have a count down to the start of the event. The tabs include Home, Info, Connect, News, Photos and Blog.
If you're interested to see the layout of each of these pages, please let me know. I love feedbacks :)
Furtado's,Pune is located in a place surrounded by cafes and restaurants. I thought banners would be a good idea to lead the people to the store during the event. These banners are designed to be put up along the path around the store.
I did not want the tone of voice on the banner to sound pushy, telling the audience what to do. Therefore, I deliberately chose the language to be casual and subtle.
The back side of the banner will carry a quote related to music only so that people who read it immediately relate it to music and Furtado's.
I thought that to encourage participation it would be a good idea for Furtado's to give away something to each of the participant as a token of appreciation. The discount coupons are designed in a way that follows the design language of the event and is yet simple and sophisticated to make them realize that this event is not all about fun and that their contribution matters to the company.
A token of appreciation will also ensure continuous participation in case, the company plans to host another such event or plans to take this event further.
