RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Design started with VIP(vision in product) process in two parts; deconstruction and construction. Deconstruction begins with describing product with asking questions and continue with interaction between product and user and eventually reaching interaction qualities and also recognizing the contexts that all interactions happened in. Construction begins with defining own context and after that thinking about the qualities of the interaction that will make sense in this context. Finally it is time to look at how particular forms produce the qualities of interaction vision, for this purpose it is done with methods, including interview, observation, task analysis, error analysis, expert interview and eventually there is factors , they can be used for designing. There is also emotional design process based on focusing on instinctive level and reflection level for creating a form with the idea of a Pelican.
INSPIRATION:
These days people who are themselves members of the nature have no more time to think about that, So it was a good opportunity to absorb their attention to the nature by using a natural form in the product. For this reason, I chose Pelican because it has a similar function with teapot that keeps the water in its mouth. By keeping this function and then changing the material to the ceramic and wood, I could achieve to my goal.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
At my point of view , we can find the most perfect figures in the nature since they are real and have survived through the time. So, the figures can influence on user's mental reflection and make a connection between them by means of a shape which is close enough to the complete form. The material for the main part (body) is white ceramic because it gives the user lightness and security sense. The spout , reminds Pelican's beak which leads the water gently out. these features cause to reach a telepathy with the user at first look on their instinctive level.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The first interaction with the product will occur in the first use, where you see an irregular form but familiar. The next interaction will happen when you use the Pelican for serving the tea which is accompanied with sentimental communication, that's why serving the tea which is derived from natural leaf of tea with the natural formation makes us feel joyful and connects us to the nature. Sometimes this sentimental communication continues even though the Pelican is not a teapot any longer, but as a natural formation can have a tremendous impact on its surroundings.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
This teapot has two main parts; The body and the lid. The body is made of porcelain and the lid is made of thermowood because it must be heat resistance .I chose porcelain because it keeps the heat well enough and can be shaped very flexibly to allow thinner spouts and thicker bodies. The ideal design contains thicker material toward the bottom and thinner toward the top. In order to make porcelain teapot, molding is a proper approach. The best way for producing the wooden lid in limited edition is handcrafting and CNC technology for mass production.
SPECIFICATIONS / DIMENSION / PACKAGE / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
600 ml pot is ideal for a four-people family. Outer dimensions: 80 mm * 250 mm * 230 mm.
The teapot is a fragile product and unique in form and I suggest a one side transparent wooden box with sliding door. The white wash wooden box reminds of the Pelican’s living environment. The mentioned pack also includes cork foam in a sustainable way or polyurethane foam which keeps the teapot safe. Also with a light blue as the background’s color can represent the sky somehow.
CHALLENGE:
At the end of VIP(vision in product) process when I reached the product factors, it was hard for me to design with a free mind in order to create a new concept because those factors came from all other teapots which existed in market and in some part they were relevant to a specific culture but I wanted to create something new and universal, at least in emotional level.
