PIER 27 CRUISE TERMINAL
& NORTHEAST WHARF PLAZA
& NORTHEAST WHARF PLAZA
Developments at Pier 27 on the San Francisco Bay waterfront will provide a purpose built cruise ship terminal as well as a 2 acre public park & plaza for visitors and local residents to enjoy.
The 2-story terminal building will serve as an international “Port of Entry” from abroad and a gateway to San Francisco. The Northeast Wharf Plaza just outside of the terminal will provide the missing link in a chain of public spaces extending along the Embarcadero Promenade.
Stretched along the eastern edge of the 10 acre pier the new building has extensive glazing to provide stunning views of the bay for special event uses when a ship is not present. The facility and site will also be home base for the 2013 America’s Cup yacht race.
Among the sustainable features is a rainwater catchment system that leverages 50,000 square feet of roof catchment area with filtrations and storage for re-use within the building.

Role on the Project
As project Architect I’ve played a key role in managing the design process and ensuring that the owner’s program is fulfilled within a very tight schedule and budget while also complying with applicable codes and regulations. I’ve served as a key coordinator both of the internal architectural team and a broad range of design consultants from schematic design through construction administration, as well as being the point person for permitting & correspondence with AHJ’s.
