Alaska; The Last Frontier; Seward's Icebox; however you may refer to the region, there's something definitely quixotic, something strange, something unreal about the place. It's so far north, and so isolated, that it's removed from most of the goings-on of the Lower 48. It's such a wild, obscure region, and the lack of detail in the camera built in to the iPhone is perfectly suited to capture such emotion. The pictures begin at low quality right after the shutter clicks, and, once the filtering is complete, the landscape is transformed, retaining a surreal, dreamlike quality, reflecting the mystery of our northernmost state.
