Folktale Story Brief:
Awang Parang Besar is a story based on a Malaysian folklore. It is a folktales that is originated from Kedah. The story is about a a young man from the Kampung Hulu. Awang welded a big machete since he was young. One day, Awang decided to go on a journey with his big machete and some food. He reaches a lonely village that was attacked by a big geroda. The princess of the village was kidnapped by the evil Geroda, thus Awang Parang Besar went on an adventure to save the princess.
The illustration of this work is a rendition of mine to illustrate the battle between Awang Parang Besar and the Geroda.
Approach:
The illustration is done via traditional art approach on an A2 sized watercolour paper. The details are done with 0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and marker pen. This work is one of the series with a group of folktales enthusiast, Watekrungkreng. This is one of the approach to relieve Malaysians folktales stories that are forgotten day by day.
