A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream Final Project for Costume Design, Knox College. Fall 2010.
A Theoretical Design for Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream.

When I learned about the Butterfly Effect theory, my mind exploded with questions. What if there really is a parallel universe? What choices have they made and how have they changed the course of their history? What would they find acceptable and what would they scorn? And then I realized that Shakespeare had answered some of these questions in his own way. So I took the idea and ran with it.

In this world, magic takes the place of science. Piercings and their proximity to the center of the face symbolize power. Tattoos hold a similar symbolism in the fairy kingdom.

I drew on primitive and ancient styles for the line quality of the Athenian costumes.

The fairy kingdom have more complex costumes in terms of line, texture and color.
