Since October of 2014, I have had a worked with the Dallas-based branding studio One Fast Buffalo. The work is often creating menus, print collateral, and other supporting materials for a restaurant or hospitality brand that the agency's founder, Ben Jenkins, has already laid the groundwork for. As such, none of these logos or brand concepts are mine, but I am often left to interpret the brand groundwork and expand it into the menus and other supporting materials seen here.
The Jones Assembly
The Jones Assembly is a forthcoming restaurant in Oklahoma City inspired by the golden age of the American car industry, in particular Henry Ford. Branded by One Fast Buffalo, the core concept was old auto shop meets American restaurant.
We had to build the feeling of a long brand history which had seen several redesigns and had been touched by many hands over the years. To me that meant using a wide collection of industrial typefaces, some of them quite similar in appearance, as if an amateur designer in the 1990s had to create something new based on some scattered printed pieces from the shop from throughout the past century. The goal is for everything to look related by their disjointedness. The brand uses additional logos and graphics to achieve this effect, but I created the marks seen here.

Butcher Board
Butcher Board is a meat-focused sandwich shop next door to its sister restaurant, Sugarbacon in McKinney, Texas. Butcher Board leans on feelings of Americana, and was inspired by signage in old butcher shops and trading posts of the early 20th century.
Butcher Board needed two menus: one for TVs that would be displayed above the customer as they ordered, and another one for take out and bulk orders.
