South-East Asia in Black and White

South-East Asia holds a special place in my heart, and so I am working on a collection through which I translate into images the feelings, sensations and states of mind I experience on my journey.
Abhaya Mudra: Protection and Reassurance
Buddha image, Luang Prabang, Laos.
Mudras are non verbal ways of communication and self-expression, consisting of hand gestures, and finger postures. In this mudra is associated with the movement of the walking Buddha (also called 'the Buddha placing his footprint'), however this image is sitting down, showing an stronger influence from China.
This mudra, which initially appears to be a natural gesture, was probably used from prehistoric times as a sign of good intentions - the hand raised and unarmed proposes friendship, or at least peace; since antiquity, it was a plain way of showing that you meant no harm since you did not carry any weapon.
A long way to go...
Rice fields in preparation for planting, mirroring the clouds over flooded paddies in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.
Serenity.
Water lily reflecting over the water. Samut Songkhram, Thailand.
Not going anywhere.
Docked fishing boat, Samut Songkhram, Thailand.
