STAIRCHAIR
My intention was to design a chair, which functions like a foldable paper sheet and it can be placed on stairs. You can bring it yourself anywhere, because the chair is a mobile construction. You can use it only on stairs!
The stair chair can be opened with one single movement. Thanks for the shapeness, and foldableness shape you can various sitting or lying positions take up. Everything is more pleasant in open air, like inside.
Simplicity, gesture, mobility
At the joints the two opposite sides of the wood surfaces meet in a 45˙ angle when opened, creating a spatial form. The elongation of the elastic leaf between the two layers enables the surfaces to move easily, to be open and closed again.
The chair built from three layers : 5 mm thick plywood, 2 mm thick elastic leaf, and 5 mm thick plywood again. These layers are stuck to eachother with palmatex glue, and pressed by a high pressure, coldcompactor. Thanks for the big surface and the equale pressure, the palmatex sets, and the layers fit to each other perfectly.
