Unlock the Second Prison (Yellow Ribbon Project)

Statistically, an average of 11,000 inmates in Singapore are released back into society each year. While surveys show that 9 in 10 Singaporeans are aware of the Yellow Ribbon Project which aims to highlight the need to help reintegrate ex-offenders back into society, employment statistics prove much to be desired. As of 2011, roughly 66,000 ex-offenders have re-entered society. However, only 1,700 employers have been willing to hire former inmates to date.

‘Unlock the Second Prison’ is a campaign which seeks to raise awareness, generate acceptance and inspire action towards the reintegrating of ex-offenders in the working world. Targetted at both employers and employees, the campaign is to be accessible, attention-grabbing as well as easily comprehendible amongst the fast-paced environment of the business district of Singapore.
