Evolution of Obesity

EVOLUTION OF OBESITY
The brief asked to design an intervention around an 'issue' with food in the contemporary world. After defining Obesity as a current global problem, the idea was to discover, compare and then visualise the rates of Global Obesity in a range of decades.
‘Obesity has doubled since 1990.’

The response was to create abstract data objects which would hold the number of obese people in years 1990, 2000, 2010 and predicted 2020. They were constructed by adding a ‘layer’ of clay to the object for every 25th million obese person in that year.

The final outcomes are primarily intended for a health exhibition or Obesity Awareness, showing the increase and issue we globally and currently have with Obesity. Meanwhile, other uses could be artwork for print concepts which are shown below.
