I believe that when you pick up the lid filled with hot water, water dripping down the situation will arise. That's because water vapor will come across the top of the cooling glass cooling condenses into water droplets.
But now the lid is designed as a ramp, drops of water will flow down along the ramp, back into the cup, so you pick up the lid when the case would not have water dripping down there.
