Family Matters
My work is related to my personal world, to my immediate surroundings and to my life experiences. The artistic process is, for me, an introspective process, a kind of personal therapy where I look at myself and see in my art the reflection of many of the things I feel, think and live. I am interested in art I can manipulate with my own hands, thus I can begin with a photograph as a canvas and collage as a starting point for building textures, effects and overlapping impressions. To feel the material is essential for me. It has been a long journey in which I moved from the two dimensional plane passing through more textural works and into sculpture. I photograph, paint, cut, weave, draw, write, assemble, knit, paste.
