«Architecture in Excess» project. The theme of the course was a new Design Centre for the city of Thessaloniki, while there was great freedom on the architectural gestures.
With a humorous attempt we came up with a scenario about the city as a highlight destination and the way the New Design Centre supports that role.
In the area of Nea Paralia (new waterfront), close to the Old Naivy Club, in the sea of Thermaikos rises the multi-entertainment Design Centre, called «Extravaganza Dream Tower».
It is an Urban Totem with bubble gum aesthetics, offering a unique view to the city and hosts uses such as: a boat jetty, a tennis court, a study room and a library, the suspended gardens, a ball pit and a skate park, a video projections hall and a conference centre, a climbing pit, a rainbow panorama, an exhibition space, a pole dancing dome hall and on the top the ‘talk-of-the-town’ swimming pool.
The project accompanies the ‘Design’ cycling path.
