Confusion
Packaging an emotion
The idea of this project was to create packaging that somehow captures or represents a given emotion.
I was given 'confusion' as my emotion and have created something that is abstract but which effectively communicates this emotion. The box features puzzle pieces and abstract patterns that signify confusion, and in printing on and constructing the box out of acetate I have given it any entirely creative perception. I wanted the viewer to feel the emotion and this is achievable becase the pattern detail and colours visually represent this. I also cut away some of the pieces to present the idea of confusion itself, as if something is missing, and to represent it's liberation and freedom.
The photography was also an important part of realising this packaging and communicating confusion. Lighting the box was a a crutial element because I wanted to take advantage of it's material properties. Working with something translucent allowed me to play with the viewers' perception and I have created a series of photos that are atmospheric, and so have a presence.
