PAUL SMITH

Description
Paul Smith is a global British luxury brand. This fashion publication serves the purpose of informing readers on the brand’s history and products, at the same time, raising awareness of the brand. The aim was to create a publication valued at AU$120 that would act as a keepsake to the brand's exhibiton at the National Gallery of Victoria. Paul Smith's iconic colourful stripes is commonly used in an implicit manner. Their philosophy, ‘classic with a twist’, is shown through unexpected and hidden elements within their collection.

Communication Objective
Every page was designed in an unrestrained manner, yet contemporary and clean. Unexpected elements were implemented across the book to suit the brand’s philosophy. Various colours identifiable as Paul Smith’s were incorporated to bring more liveliness into the book. The tipped-ins added interactivity and surprises. The pages were collated by perfect binding that was professionally done. The hardcover was covered in black Oxford Buckram with pink gloss raised-ink logo on it, showing through the bunny cut out dust jacket. The bunny shape was adopted to adapt more meaning into the publication, as it is Sir Paul Smith’s good luck amulet.

Tools
Adobe InDesign CC was mainly used to design the pages; its layout and typesetting, tipped-in as well as the cover including the dust jacket. The bunny shape was created with Adobe Illustrator CC before imported into InDesign. All photos taken were adjusted and refined with Adobe Photoshop CC.
