'A Life's Passion'

This publication was created in response to the 2016 ISTD brief “A Life’s Work”, as a celebration of the life and work of typographer Adrian Frutiger. It focuses on an often overlooked, complementary ‘life’s work’ to his typeface designs—his work on signs and symbols. The information is communicated through primarily typographic Swiss-style layouts, accompanied by graphic elements. All written content is my own, apart from the text in the small Poetry book. The writing was composed after reading three of Frutiger's books, 'Within the human being, there is an inborn geometry of feelings', ' Signs and Symbols: Their Design and Meaning', and 'Type, Sign, Symbol'. The symbol that is seen first on the inside cover and then later on in the 'Frutiger's Symbol' section is one I created in celebration of Frutiger, fusing symbols with meanings of particular relevance to Frutiger.
