The story behind "10 Women": I heard an interview with a presidential candidate. The reporter asked how he would rate a woman as a "Perfect 10." The candidate went on to talk about how big or small her physical attributes would have to be. It infuriated me on so many levels. First, why is this reporter even asking that question!? And second, this man was assigning value based on the size of her body parts. It made me think about all the photos I had taken of women that I would someday draw; all these women that had so much more value than the sum of their parts. The idea of a man even rating a woman's value was beyond idiotic. So, that brings me to my piece. I painted "10 women." The only reason they should be associated with the number 10 is if there are 10 of them.
