The brewers over at Dr. Hops & McMalty were looking for a cool logo for their brews, so I entered a contest to create the logo. Unfortunately it didn't win, but it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot!

Started off sketching, getting some ideas down.

From there I hopped into illustrator, see how I was going to go about it. When I had a clear idea, I created the linework in flash. Which I suppose is not very common, but I've worked with the flash brush a lot and I really like the way it acts, plus for me it's the easiest and fastest way to get the lines the way I want them to.

Eventually colors and everything is added in illustrator.
