Taalia Nadeem's profile

Ali: An extraordinary boy

This booklet is designed to create awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder in the rural areas of Pakistan.
Ali is an eight year old boy
He is just an ordinary boy to look at, but in reality is different from the others.
It is very difficult for him to make decisions and become friends with other boys.
His mother mother encourages him to go to the park and play.
He cannot take control over his body or his actions.
Due to which other children run away from him.
He gets tired and hides in a corner, away from the other children.
Nobody understands Ali.
His mother comes and explains to the other children that Ali wants to be friends with everyone but sees the world differently. Let's all put ourselves in Ali's place and think like him.
Everybody understands and becomes friends with Ali.
Whoever we are, and whatever we are like, love is one language that is spoken by all.
Autism Spectrum disorder is a mental disorder. It is very hard for people with autism to be in touch with the outside world due to which people tend to abandon them. The reality is that these autistic people have the same feelings as anybody else and we need to treat them nicely and not alienate them.
