The connotations between a young boy drinking this milk has a strong connection between Alex's childhood and how his life is panning out.
The splashing of the milk shows a disrupted childhood as the protagonist commits various crimes at only fifteen years of age.

The choice to use a grey and white colour scheme comes from the gritty and bleak setting the story is based in and also the colour white to represent the milk in the glass.
