Everybody always talks about the power of Social Media, and it's something I strongly believe in- yet you still see brands uploading the same old pictures, of the same old stuff and the same old situations - and then somehow expecting engaging and exciting results. Well, we said enough. In 2016 we decided to revamp our social team with monthly brainstorms on how we could keep our content fresh. We involved motion designers, coders and creatives to create some pretty damn cool stuff/
Tactical Posts
Social Media is best when its relevant. Because of this we created a giant social calendar, with everything on it from local uni dates and festivals to fun made-up holidays like "Star Wars Day"  - this calendar allows us to create sharable content, and jump on trends before they even begin.
Snap To Win
Competitions on Instagram can be hard because while comments offer engagement, they don't often offer people anything valuable So, we decided to mix it up by creating games where lightning-fast fingers can win you tickets, bottles, and VIP treatment. People screengrab images when they light up, or come together, and then repost them it to win. Simple, easy, fun.
Spin The Bottle
A game as old as, well, bottles. You can play it in many ways, and we have on social media, but the basic gist of it is this - you sit in a circle with a bunch of friends, screengrab the bottle which pauses the screen - whoever it's pointed at gets dared to do something. They then snap a pic, send it back to us and they could win.
Mixer Videos
Ballantine's message is in South Africa is "Stay True". They challenged us to show the mixability of the product, while keeping true to the whiskey. So, we did it by making cocktail videos - backwards. That way every video ended on the simple shot of Ballantine's, and their message - Stay True.
Fun.
Sometimes it's not rocket science - whatever. Good looking things are fun to make. And people like them. That's a good enough reason, right?
