Laurel & Jaimie: Character Design

So my sister's friend, Anna Bea Geronga, was currently in need of a Concept Art of her characters on her Creative Writing course
in the University of the Philippines.

This is a lesbian tragic love story set in the Philippines.
Laurel fell in love with a guy once, and when they were about to get married, her husband was robbed and was stabbed to death on his right side. Laurel, feeling depressed went out from being to cold, left from the Philippines to go to the States.

Several years later, a friend of hers contacted Laurel for a reunion. Upon returning she was shocked to see the exact splitting image of her late lover with the same marks on the right side of her ribcage. Only now the girl introduced herself to Laurel as Jaimie.
Jaimie is a 17 year old reckless teen. I envisioned her as a Hot Topic kind of girl, with ripped jeans, hanging blouse and addicted to bands. (Her favorite is Nirvana, which is also Laurel's late lover's favorite band). She is quirky, colorful, expressive and rebellious.
Laurel, on the other, is the exact opposite of Jaimie. She's 25 years old. Reserved, quiet, a book lover and a quiet kind of girl. I envisioned her as something classy and clean looking - not too extravagant in clothing but can knock out even the simplest of dresses. She's formal too. :)
Overall reception:
Initially, I was also taksed to create the concept design of the ex-fiance but
sadly, the client declined. I was tasked to only create a lineart of the characters.

Ms. Geronga was very pleased with the reults.
This work was presented in the KomiKon Philippines last year by a panelist
Sir Flores.
He happens to be the professor of Anna Bea who assigned this assignment for them.
I was informed (via Ms. Geronga) that SIr Flores saw this artowork and asked if I am allowed to continue it through a comic book. I currently being updated on the specifics.
