Dragon Fighter in Suburbia

With a homemade cardboard sword and shield, a kid living in a 1950's american suburbia spends his days fighting neighborhood dragons on his trusty scooter.
The little boy rids this scooter around his neighborhood, imagining adventures slaying dragons as a knight. He carries a cardboard sword with him which is laying beside the scooter on the pavement, as if he dropped everything to run inside for lunch.
The clouds above his neighborhood come to life. A dragon and a pegasus emerge from the clouds, and his house turns into a red castle, differentiating it from all the other identical houses in his neighborhood.
Here, a 1950’s playground turns into a dragon guarded castle. This image really brings the child’s imaginations to life, making the dragon seem very real and tangible. The point of view is low to the ground, as if we are seeing this from the kid’s point of view. The scene is dramatic, like the climax to his adventure of finding and slaying the neighborhood dragon.
The evening summer light illuminates this bedroom scene, casting a warm, comforting glow. The child’s unmade bed holds his stuffed dragon toy and his cardboard sword and shield. The little boy had documented his adventures through crayon drawings taped haphazardly up on his wall.
