I created a small fashion collection inspired by famous art pieces. Drawing inspiration from architecture, sculpture, and paintings, all garments were designed, cut, and sewn by yours truly.

Gothic Period (13th-16th cent.)
Gothic Cathedral
Inspired by the architecture’s soaring verticality, this stone gray A-line dress plays with elongated silhouettes. The high neckline evokes typical gothic pointed arches. The open laced back is reminiscent of stained glass tracery.

Filippo Brunelleschi (b. 1377)
Il Duomo, Florence, Italy
As an iconic sight of Florence’s skyline, the Duomo’s red tiled dome is reinterpreted in this six-panel skirt. Ribbed tracing around each panel adds texture and a contrast of hues.

Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510)
The Birth of Venus, c. 1486
Integrating elements from Venus’s seashell podium and Flora’s flowery cape, this skirt and top ensemble incorporates elements from this of Botticelli’s world-famous piece.

Edgar Degas (1834-1917)
The Little Dancer Aged Fourteen, c. 1881
Degas is well-known for his impressionistic depiction of dancers. This wrap around ballerina skirt is a direct interpretation of his most famous statuette.

Piet Mondrian (1872-1944)
Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow, 1930
For this top and pencil skirt, I incorporated Mondrian’s minimalist aesthetic in the formation of my own textile design.

Henri Matisse (1869-1954)
La Gerbe, 1953
Paired with a peter pan collared blouse, this circle skirt incorporates vibrantly colored cutouts similar to those Matisse made famous. The fabric itself incorporates faint forms reminiscent of his work.

Mark Rothko (1903-1970)
Blue, Orange, Red, 1961
Utilizing fabric dyes in blue, orange, and red, I painted Rothko’s famous block style composition; a humble cotton shift dress was my canvas.
