The lamp portrays an iron ore that was incompletely refined to show the beauty of the material both raw and machined, as if the motion of transformation was suspended.

Constructed as an assignment for the Year One Model Making degree unit.
Steel bars were welded into shape and off-cut pieces were rough welded on to simulate a raw ore surface texture. The surface was then selectively ground using an angle grinder to create the highlights.
Steel rods were bent and welded on to make the legs and a light bulb socket was mounted to an acrylic panel at the back of the lamp.
