Lesley Carruthers

——————————
Lesley Carruthers’ widely acclaimed sculptures are the product of a largely intuitive process, often informed and inspired by the landscapes in which she has lived and worked. Many commissions were undertaken during her time in East Anglia including one for a major piece of public art.

She describes her technique as instinctive: ‘often happening without advance planning or rational thought’, and she describes the creative process as both unpredictable and unfathomable.

Simple illustrations of the sculptures create an intriguing and simple initial introduction to each piece. An uncluttered and pared back visualisation of the sculptures creates interest, leading to further investigation. Each sculpture stands in its own right, not crowded or overwhelmed by the placing of other images in the vicinity.
