"Sticks & Stones"
Part of the 2015-2016 BULLY Project Mural
I created this piece in Adobe Illustrator implementing the geometric triangle style I have experimented with on other projects. For this piece, I began with a copy-free portrait photograph, locked it in a separate background layer, and reduced its opacity. Then, I used the Pen Tool to freehand each triangle, coloring them using the Eyedropper tool. After developing the face, the caption and message followed.
The subject’s downturned mouth as well as the prominent green, blue, and black hues I selected from the model’s photograph inspired the piece’s play on words: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will also hurt me.”
This project's aim is to, like my cyberbulling project, warn against verbal bullying - audible, visual, and ditigal - in a more dynamic format. This piece is displayed in the BULLY Project Mural, which is also on Behance.
