Little white lies
Brief to create an original cover illustration forLittle White Lies magazine, depictingthe main character of one of the magazines fivefavourite films of 2011. (either - Drive, Black Swan, Tree of Life, Super 8 and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy)
I chose Super 8 because of the amazing performance from Joel Courtney. When I saw the film last summer I saw the influences from Spielberg throughout, especially from films like ET and The Goonies. This formed my response to the brief. I originally thought about writing the script from 'The Goonies' into the illustration but instead used the synopsis from both films and alternated. In the camera is a copy of the review from Little White Lies online.
The tiny handwritten text draws in the viewer and urges you to read. In a world full of imagery and instant gratification, its nice to create something with a slower reveal.
