National Capitol Guard: Ration Kit

For a more creative approach to a more comprehensive packaging concept, we were challenged to create a 24 hour ration box to aid in survival during an apocalyptic event.

This is a 24 hour ration box for a zombie apocalypse. Each agent in a special government organization (National Capitol Guard: Undead Patrol Unit) that goes out and kills zombies to keep civilians and safe zones from being attacked, will receive one of these boxes each day. It contains food for that day (3 meal bars on a tray that lifts out, and various supplemental snacks below) as well as water purification tablets, an anti-virus serum, a multi-tool pocket knife, a small first aid kit, a little bottle of alcohol to give them more courage, and an information booklet about the contents of the box. The booklet tells them how to make it last more than one day, how to build camp, treat wounds, spot the undead infection symptoms, and kill zombies when they attack.

The design is simple, straight-forward, and easily adapted for multiple items. The shield shaped NCG logo makes use of several government motifs, including the stars, olive branches, and latin phrase (though this one means "to kill the living dead"), while the Undead Patrol Unit's simplified logo uses a skull flanked by olive branches, a paradox of death and peace.

Logo design and package layouts created in Adobe Illustrator. Assembled by hand.
