Inspired by Global Culture
This is a small sample of a range I completed when researching global arts. I found myself particularly inspired by Indian culture, colour and style.
This collage aspect of this piece was inspired by an artist known as Oscar Murillo, he uses lots of rough scribbles and colour layered in his work which is a style I aimed to replicate. The style of drawing can be seen in Brazilian culture. I like the combination of the colour and style in this piece and think it was successful.
This is a pencil drawing of a Native American woman. I chose to draw her because I found the way she looked visually intriguing.
Here she is again. I went over the drawing with colour. I went for orange and brown shades to include tone and draw the eye in immediately. The background took inspiration from Beatriz Milhazes who treats incredibly vibrant compositions with geometric shapes.
This style was inspired by indian art work. It depicts an elephant and includes patterning. I simply used pencil and colour to complete this. Unfortunately, something got stuck to it before I'd had a chance to take a photo!
Here shows spray paint of David Bowie on a collage of vibrant Asian patterns. The colour really contrasts the black paint yet compliments it nicely. The template of Bowie's face was made from a drawing I had done of him prior to this.
