Located in Rutland, Ohio, the Goldenseal Botanical Sanctuary reveals incredible biodiversity that exists on this planet and helps to teach the importance of preservation through integrating our awareness and actions into natural rhythms and systems. This project was born out of a desire to learn more about our natural world and quench a curiosity about nature's potential to heal itself. When I reached out to Erika Galentin, the coordinator of UPS at that time, she said they were actually considering contacting the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University to inquire about a student to work on a project for them.
I visited the property multiple times over the course of a year to feel confident about the final edit and consider it finished. The experiences I had during the creation of this video continue to inspire me and I plan to work on stories relating to its nature in the future.
Created for a final assignment at Ohio University (VICO 3420 - Audio/Video Storytelling), but at that point it was only a rough edit and I continued to gather footage to make it presentable for the client to use.
