In 2002-2007 Cork Council had huge plans to build a new Cork Docklands district which had to mark
a new era for entire Cork region. However, economical crisis changed everything. The plans to build the new district of Cork was pulled back until recent. The ‘break of the Ice’ could be recently announced plan to build a multi functional building in the heart of Cork’s City centre, Anderson quay. Our brief was to create a brand for this new district.
From my early research I could conclude several things: this plan could be seen as a start of new era, as it is one of the biggest development project since recession started in 2008. Also, Cork is famous for it’s concentration of technology based companies in the region.Additional to that, recently announced plans of connecting cork to transatlantic high speed internet cable between England, Ireland and the USA, will make city more competitive in technology sector and will attract big companies to chose Cork for their business. And finally then overlooking technology based business parks such as the City Gate in Mahon point
I found out a missing element. That was an absence of involvement of local community.

So tho concept of Anderson quay was driven by my findings of research. Anderson Quay - a place which is marking tomorrow. It marks the beginning of new Cork docklands, the improvement of economy. The finish of industrial age and start of digital one. It marks that high technology finally meets local community in the form of live events, conferences or exhibitions.
