I made a special project for my Mommy's birthday, in which I also found out that it was Abbey Sy's birthday too. Two birds with one stone, as they say. So I created a piece that exhibits radiance as an individual. As we all know, yellow is considered as the color of happiness. Hence, I chose this color to depict the happiness an individual feels on his or her special day - in this case, it's my Mommy and Abbey.

I used different brushes for the letters and for the background. I find it easier to create the background design with a bigger brush in order to save up time and cover up the area evenly. For the background, I used a bit of orange to give more emphasis on the "yellowness" of the design. I did it on Oslo paper using watercolor.

Yellow and black really complements each other in terms of contrast. I chose the phrase "stay golden" not only because we associate "golden" with "yellow," but also because this phrase tells you to be who you are because you shine on your own. It tells you that you are unique and that uniqueness makes you golden.
