Snapshot Book Trailer

A picture is worth a thousand words, except when you're trying to market a book. Then, sometimes it's worth sixty-thousand words.
A book trailer is a strange thing. It's not a movie, and the characters look completely different from one reader to the next, so it's a better idea to avoid putting faces in book trailers, (and book covers as well). However, this tale is very character driven, the horror isn't only in the tale about a killer, but that deeper horror of discovering your grandfather is a killer.

And it needed to be quick. Short. After wrestling with a dozen different concepts, this is the one I went with. Going with a shot of the back of the girl, looking at the back yard, combined with the headline, really puts the viewer in her shoes - the place gets smaller, darker.
Following several quick shots, we return to this shot, but reveal that Kate isn't a seven year old, she's an adult, and things have definitely shifted for her.
Due to the non-existent budget, I developed the montage with free photography and free video footage. I find that the constraint sometimes pushes you into areas you didn't expect. I'm extremely grateful for the photogrphers who post their work for others to use. I don't think I could've come up with this overall feeling if left to my own devices.
