Idiom Project

Background: “Every language has its own collection of wise sayings. They offer advice about how to live and also transfer some underlying ideas, principles, and values of a given culture/society. These sayings are called idioms. These phrases have a ‘figurative meaning’, basically working with ‘pictures’ that is very different from their literal meaning.”

Design Goal: Develop a series of icons that illustrate an idiom.

Idiom I chose: Butter someone up / Have egg on your face / A little birdie told me / Cat got your tongue / Be in the same boat / Birdbrain
From the top left to right in pencil roughs (above):
A little birdie told me / Birdbrain /
Butter someone up / Cat got your tongue /
Be in the same boat /  Have egg on your face /
Among those idioms, I choose to develop the idiom "Butter someone up"
Butter someone up digital icon
I develop the idiom icon into a butter spread brand logo and guide.
