Mars is explored by a group of Earthlings, but due to a natural catastrophe back on Earth the people are forced to remain and start a new civilisation on the planet. Over time, the detachment from Earth resulted in a great evolution, leading to drastic cultural, physical and social changes.

Despite the survival and adaptation to Mars’ atmosphere, the community must still flee the frequent sandstorms and drastic temperatures, which prove to be a hazard to their survival.

The civilisation is forced to constantly be on the move. Their solution was to manifest an architecture which acts as an extension to their body. An architecture developed through technological advancements, to provide a symbiotic relationship between planet and being. Unlike the people’s destructive relationship with Earth, which could be analogous to that of a virus, Mars’ cities act united, as one which is nurtured by its planet.

Mars on the Move is a metaphor for these virtualities existing on Mars – mobile constellations of points, singularities, forces intersecting planes or lines in the millieux. Form takes a holiday, and attention is entirely focussed on the social dimension of form. It is the social energy that drives the movement, calm, excited, ominous or auspicious.
