I came to the idea of creating the idea of bar called “The Dive Bar” while brainstorming for a project. This bar, instead of being an actual dive bar, would be a Scuba Diving themed bar. The Coasters I illustrated for the project were a concept developed from my love of aquatic plants, and of scuba diving. The coasters themselves are meant as instructional illustrations to teach bar goers important dive signals to remember when they go under. With diving being such a perilous sport, I felt like this was an important topic to cover rather then something more light hearted. The text on the back of the coasters “Its more important then you think” reflects that fact that communication underwater can save lives, and truly is one of the most important things to learn how to do before taking that plunge.
